Three ways for business owners to get ahead while others are wasting time

"It has been my observation that most people get ahead during the time that others waste", Henry Ford

This quote couldn’t be more true! While others are binge watching the latest Netflix series, vacationing or watching sports, you can be engaging in more productive activities that will help your business prosper. Of course these fun things should be included in your life in moderation but replacing some of that time with activities that will help your business grow will pay off in the long run. Here are three ways for you to get ahead while others are wasting time:

  1. Educate yourself
In this new age of information overload there is no shortage of great information that can help us all prosper. Gone are the days where we have to sit in a lecture hall or go to the library to look up articles or read great books. Now we have something called “Google” that leads us to everything and anything we will ever need to get smarter and all in the comfort of your own mobile device! Get in the habit of watching youtube videos, read articles in your industry or books on running a business or being an entrepreneur.  Watch the countless free webinars on the internet that interview successful business owners and how they “made it”. Identify what you are not good at and find information that will bring you up to speed. We all have weaknesses as business owners, so own it and get better at it. Online courses are super popular right now and there is so much valuable information on social media, especially platforms like LinkedIn. So make it a habit to learn something new everyday and see how you will grow as a business owner in a short amount of time.
  2. Create content
Growing a business isn’t easy. So instead of watching that addicting show on TV tonight, take a video with one of your products or talk about a service you offer. Write an article about how your business is outstanding from competitors. Create 10 social media posts that you can put on your marketing calendar. There are so many ways you can create content. If you are stuck on a topic or have writer’s block, read someone else's articles for ideas and use a keyword research tool like
Ubersuggest that can help you look up the most trending topics for blogs or videos. And make sure to pull out the most popular keywords using the keyword research tools so you can maximize your SEO. Content is king (as Gary V puts it), and the more quality content you have out there, the higher you will rank on search engines and the better it will be for your business. But remember, quality content is key and you will not obtain results overnight. This is a business lifestyle change when creating content and amazing marketers, like Niel Patel, even said for his business to take off it took him two years of great content marketing to get there. And he’s really good.  So be patient, consistent and persistent and the growth will come.
  3. Research your competitors
Stalking competitors to see what they are offering and how they are promoting themselves is one of the best things you can do with your free time. Not only will you know what you are up against but you may even get great ideas and can be even more creative than they are with your marketing. Growing your business can be easier than you think! Use their ideas and one-up them! If they are posting 3 times a week on social media you should be doing 5 to 10! If they are running contests or giving away free items, you should run better contests and give away more valuable items to your target market. Look at their products and compare them to yours. Competitors’ product knowledge is a beautiful thing when it comes to interacting with your customers. If you can talk to your customers and tell them why your product or service is better than the competitors’ using good examples that display your knowledge of the market, the customer is going to choose you.

Three great ways to recycle content

Do you find yourself running out of ideas for your blog or social media posts? Have you been skipping blog posts because you have writers block? Never run out of ideas again because recycling content is as good as coming up with something new. Here are a few ways you can recycle your content.

  1. Reuse old blog articles
There is a misconception that material that is posted in the past is not relevant today. But there are many pieces of content with good information that still applies in today’s world. That is why you should take those interesting articles and do some keyword research on them. Neil Patel has a great tool for keyword research. Determine the most popular keywords for today on the same topic and rewrite the articles using the updated keywords. But don’t just stuff the keywords in the piece. Actually create meaning behind the new keywords and make the article even better than it was.  Do this with all your old content and never run out of topic ideas again. You will increase your traffic to your blog and boost your revenue as a result.
  2. Make multiple videos out of one
If you have 45 minutes of raw footage speaking about your business or interviewing one of your employees, it is amazing how much content you can extract from one piece of footage. For example, if during an interview you have footage of answering 10 questions, you can segment that video into 10 short clips, each describing the specific question that was asked. Those questions become the new topic of each video. Here is an example of one Clairant made for a customer. Create a YouTube channel to store all of these videos and link to them through your website and social media. Also take these videos and create small articles about them using each clip to create another topic and write a little more detail to elaborate.
  3. Turn a video or webinar into a podcast
With technology these days we can easily take a great video using our smart phones with perfect audio and some great footage. Another great way to recycle content is through extracting the audio from a video and creating a podcast or audio recording from it. Millions of people listen to podcasts every day when they are unable to watch video. Whether they are driving or jogging, podcasts are an extremely effective channel to deliver your message as a business. So start taking audio recordings from your past videos, add some new recordings to enhance them if necessary and start becoming a content recycling guru.

As a soul-centered entrepreneur, I get how hard it can be to grow a business without sacrificing who you authentically are.
I remember when I first went out on my own when opening Clairant and taking the risk of potential instability. It was both scary and liberating and I haven't looked back since.

That’s why I was so thrilled when my friend Camille Miller, asked me to be featured in a new interview series all around this topic, which actually was born out of her own insight of what was happening around the world when people don’t align who they are with what they do.

It’s called Six-Figure Souls: Doing Good & Making Money. This FREE Online Summit highlights soul-centered entrepreneurs who crushed the six-figure ceiling and still feel they are in alignment with the Universe and their purpose. They are making money AND serving others!

This is a totally FREE online summit and I am personally inviting you
. You can register for your FREE ticket using this link: https://www.thenaturallife.org/sfs-desirae-haluk.html

This is for any soul-centered, heart-based, holistic, conscious, natural entrepreneur or alternative medicine practitioner that wants to break through those money barriers and earn the living they deserve doing what they love. It's about who you are, not what you do.

These interviews are REAL, AUTHENTIC, short to the point conversations with entrepreneurs, like me, who’ve made a business around being authentic. You will not want to miss these amazing stories.

Once you register you get the entire library of interviews. You will not be asked to purchase anything. PLUS, each speaker will offer a FREE gift as a thank you for watching!

I’m excited to be a part of this very unique event and hope you will join me in watching the interviews beginning August 17th.  Each day you will receive one short interview in your inbox, watch the episode, and continuing the conversation in our private Facebook group. It's that easy!

Register here for your FREE PASS

PS. My interview is August 29, but register now so you don’t miss any of the other experts. I’m super proud to be a part of this launch series.
