Finding the perfect B2B target audience can be tricky, but this guide takes you through the process step-by-step with a helpful tactic that you will use over and over again. Get ready to discover where you can find your dream customer!
Knowing who your target audience is essential for any business venture, as it helps to determine how to best reach potential customers and deliver the right message. But sometimes you know who they are but you just don’t know how to find them. This guide will provide you with a step-by-step strategy to help you find your perfect target audience and expand your customer base.

Defining Your Target Audience
First of all, identifying and defining your target audience is the first step in reaching out and finding potential customers. Researching the types of people in your ideal demographic can help you determine how to best market your products or services. You need to know who the decision makers are as well as what industry you are targeting. For example if you are looking for HVAC companies, you are not going to find a technician or plumber making the decision whether or not to hire you. So skip those people. You need the decision makers. The owners, CEO’s, COOs, even CFO’s and any other position titles you can think of that will help you get the message across that your products or services will help them grow their businesses. It’s also ok to target more than one of these position holders at each company. Be sure to consider factors such as age, gender, location, interests, lifestyle and values when determining who your audience is so you can reach them more effectively.

Find Active Companies on LinkedIn
Now I want you to login to your LinkedIn account and go up to the search bar. Type in the keyword that describes the industry you are targeting and press enter. You can choose to search through groups, people, posts, jobs, products, companies, courses, events, and services.
(Insert Screenshot of LinkedIn search bar with HVAC companies in it)

Start With Companies First
A list of companies will pop up and you can click through them to see if they are what you are looking for. Click on their company pages and see if they post regularly and are active on their page. Take note of how many employees they have and whether or not it seems to be a good fit for your target audience. If they are, then copy the company name in a spreadsheet. Once you have your list of companies who are active on LinkedIn you can now move over to the Lead411 platform.

Use Lead411 to Find Quality Targeted Leads
Once you login to Lead411 (I am sure you can try it for free), expand your filters on the left. Three columns will appear. On the left column, where it says Employee Level, click the dropdown list and select the level of employee you would like to target. This will ensure you are not targeting any field employees or non decision makers in your search.
Below that, click on Limit the People Per Company and I would choose 5 or 6. You may have to increase this or leave the field blank if the companies are small so that you don’t weed out the right people. If your target is larger then you will want to limit the people.
Once you have done that, move over to the far right column of the filter section. Click on Suppression filter, highlight MY LISTS, which will make sure they don’t include results of people you have on your previous lists if you have uploaded any. On the next filter down, click on Exported Filter, My Exports. This will make sure you don’t export the same name twice.

Next is the Email filter. You want to make sure you are only bringing up contacts who have their emails verified. If you are only interested in phone numbers then you can skip this filter and you will have more choices that will appear in your search. If emails are important to you then click on the Verified Email tab.

The last filters you need to worry about will be in the Company Size section at the bottom of the right column. If you are targeting companies with specific amounts of employees or who bring in specific revenue numbers then fill these filters out as well and now you are ready to start your search.

Now go back over to the first company on your spreadsheet list from LinkedIn and copy and paste it over to the quick search bar in Lead411 at the top of the screen. The company name should appear in the drop down menu. Click on it. If it does not appear it is either not the official company name so you can play around with the wording of the company, or it is simply not in the Lead411 database.
If you are on the people tab, results about the company will appear at the top and all the employees at the level you selected will pop up at the bottom. Scroll through their position titles and see if they could possibly make the decision about hiring your company. If they are a good choice then add them to your cart on the far right side of the contact where you see a shopping card icon with a plus sign.

Repeat these steps and play with the filters.

If you have gotten to a point where you have exhausted your lists from LinkedIn, try the Similar Companies tab once you have quick searched a company that fits your target market perfectly. Lead411 has millions of people in their data base so I am sure there are some companies that may not be on LinkedIn.

Utilize SEO Strategies to Increase Visibility for Your Target Audience
Utilizing SEO strategies is a great way to drive traffic to your website, and it’s also an effective way to reach and engage with the target audience you already have in mind. In order to increase visibility for your target audience, you’ll need to incorporate relevant keywords in your website content as well as create backlinks from other websites to yours. Doing this will help boost rankings in search engine results, which means more relevant people visiting your site and engaging with your content.

Find Popular Hashtags Related to Your Niche Market
Hashtags on social media provide an effective way to reach your target audience and increase engagement. Optimizing hashtags can be a great tool for discovering new followers who may be interested in the products or services you offer. To find relevant hashtags, start by searching popular tags related to your niche market and monitor those related conversations. Also pay attention to the number of posts the hashtag has (more engagement equals more exposure). Finally, use tracking tools to measure campaigns involving hashtags so you can see how well they’re performing.
